A SUPPLEMENT TO A VOYAGE TO THE LAND OF THE TARAHUMARA
How can we die before we die, so we don’t die when we die?
In the early 20th century, playwright and theorist Antonin Artaud travelled to Mexico in search of a more essential way of being. His voyage is detailed in a series of essays entitled The Peyote Dance.
This new performance piece is a physical meditation on these writings, exploring the capriciousness of the human will, access to the conscious and unconscious, and the essential question of good and evil through Theatre Encounter’s unique approach to performance and performer Val Duncan’s research in butoh.
