// 2025 GENERAL AUDITIONS //
Theatre Encounter, Calgary’s Expressionist theatre company, will hold auditions for their Winter 2025 programming on Saturday October 5, 2024.
Artists cast will participate in the development of a new one-act play, an experiment in Expressionist Farce. This collaboratively-created production will be overseen by director Michael Fenton, and will culminate in a work-in-development presentation at the cSpace Marda Loop theatre in March 2025.
SCHEDULE: Theatre Encounter rehearses on a part-time schedule from our Abattoir Studio in Marda Loop (approx. 100-125 hours, evenings and weekends). Tech and performance week is March 22-29, 2025.
COMPENSATION: $2500

Theatre Encounter engages in a highly physical approach to performance grounded in Expressionistic styles. Actors, dancers, and performers from other physical disciplines are encouraged to audition.
Those selected for auditions will be asked to prepare a 1-2 minute comedic monologue and a movement piece up to 3 minutes in length.

CALL FOR ARTISTS
Theatre Encounter seeks artists working in styles outside of Realism to present as part of our Winter 2025 programming.
// CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS // working in any medium for a one-week show at the main floor hallway gallery @cSpace Marda Loop. The gallery show will be displayed in the lobby area outside of the cSpace theatre during the week of March 24, 2025. Artists will be compensated per CARFAC rates.

// CALL FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS // to present in the Abattoir Studio. Works in styles outside of Realism in any performance medium with a runtime of 20 to 40 minutes. Programming in the Abattoir will be presented on a double bill ticket with the Encounter Mainstage show in the week of March 24, 2025. Performances will be compensated through a combination of guaranteed honoraria and a split of box office revenue.
