Theatre Encounter Presents MURDERER THE HOPE OF WOMEN

MURDERER, THE HOPE OF WOMEN

20th century German painter Oskar Kokoschka’s only work written for the stage, MURDERER, THE HOPE OF WOMEN, is Kokoschka’s bold, painterly vision of a feudal land divided by barbarism, sex and the occult. Infamous for causing a riot in the streets of Vienna after its premier in 1909, the play’s representation of female power, sexuality and sacrifice continues to cause controversy to this day.  Theatre Encounter brings its vicious, experimental flair to this foundational  Expressionist drama using projection and green-screen technology to support the explosive physicality of its performers.
