Theatre Encounter’s presentation of the classic absurd piece, The Lesson – world-renowned tragicomedy play by the imitable Eugene Ionesco. Driven by his disdain for the quasi-intellectual, and the hypocrisy and danger that is shown when academics and intellectuals decide to champion popular notions to stay relevant in society, Ionesco’s writing asks the audience to question conceptual ideas and if they are being promoted for self-gain.
Theatre Encounter’s company of artists unleashed their physically charged and contemporary characterization into The Lesson, driving audiences toward the powerful impact Absurd Theatre has had on contemporary art.
